The Pavilla Hill clubhouse, designed by Koichiro Ikebuchi in Singapore is a calm oasis reflecting the Japanese way of life. Speaking about the design process, Koichiro Ikebuchi says, “When approached with the design brief by Client NW Project Management Ltd, of the concept of an ‘On-sen’  ie. The traditional Japanese bath, I came up with an abstract conceptualization of the ‘Onsen’ for the Clubhouse and Public Areas to suit the contemporary lifestyles of the cosmopolitan set. Intimate interiors infused with luxurious elements and materials address that, whilst the ‘spirit’ of the experience of visiting an ‘On-sen’ is retained in the interplay of light and shadows in the spaces that bring a sense of peacefulness and calm.

An ‘On-sen’, or literally ‘Hot Springs’ in Japanese, is generally a communal activity extolled by its the virtue of ‘naked communion’ ie. ‘Hadaka no Tsuki Ai’ for breaking down barriers and getting to know people in a relaxed and homely atmosphere. Applied to the Clubhouse and Public Areas, we have planned bigger open areas with adjoining communal spaces to allow for more interaction amongst neighbors.

The inclusion of a ‘Cha-Shitsu’ ie. ‘Teahouse’ at the Clubhouse, with our take on the ‘Sado’ ie. ‘Tea Ceremony’, will be a welcoming and relaxing way to come home to at the end of a long hard day at work. Our modernized vision of the ‘On-sen for the Clubhouse and Public Areas will be a unique and spiritually fulfilling experience, even for the well-heeled and traveled individual and we are inspired by this idea.”
