Coverings 2022
Coverings 2022 was a spectacular show with a large global turn out of attendees and a magnetic energy proving that in-person events are valuable to the tile and stone industry members.
The largest international tile and stone event Coverings in North America, took 18 percent increase in attendance compared to Coverings 2021. The Coverings 2022 event, which was held April 5-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, drew nearly 18,000 industry professionals from all business sectors within the tile and stone industry. The four-day event extended across the convention center’s North and Central Halls in addition to the connecting concourses.
The event witnessed new and highly creative exhibit booths in nine, massive global pavilions hosted by the world’s leading tile associations and product manufacturers from countries including the United States, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Turkey, Portugal, India, and China. Exhibitors represented 34 countries, of which 69 percent were from outside the United States.
There was also a host of spectacular tile displays, a range of business-building strategies, real-world learning sessions, and engaging networking experiences. Demonstrations by industry leaders offered insights about the latest tools, techniques and technologies for tile and stone installations. Thousands of distributors, retailers, stone fabricators, contractors, installers, specifiers, architects, designers, builders, remodelers, and others discovered and sourced an enormous range of products, including the most innovative tile, stone, machinery, equipment, and other products.
“We are extremely excited and pleased with the increased attendance and magnetic energy at Coverings 2022,” said Jennifer Hoff, president of Taffy Event Strategies, the event planning company for Coverings. “The show’s global turnout and action-packed activities were key indicators that in-person events are valuable to tile and stone industry members who are ready to do business, connect with peers and suppliers as well as see, touch and feel products onsite.” The year’s top ten tile trends, which were seen in near-countless examples throughout the show floor, were the subject of multiple onsite tile trends presentations and tours provided by Alena Capra, Coverings spokesperson, industry ambassador and owner of Alena Capra Designs. Attendees of Coverings 2022 participated in four specialized trends tours for a deep dive into the latest, must-see tile designs.
Three different contractor tours allowed tour-goers a close-up look at the year’s newest and most innovative tools and equipment. Podcast participation was also a popular show activity, with 10 live podcasts covering a range of timely and relevant topics during the four-day event. The Coverings 2022 extensive offering of 24 educational sessions focused upon three tracks: “Installation & Fabrication”; “Materials and Trends” and “Workforce & Profits.” Scheduled learning sessions, many of which were filled to capacity, featured thought-leader experts sharing up-to- date information, knowledge and skills that enlightened attendees with need-to-know content about ceramic tile and stone as the material of choice.
Coverings’ interactive Stages were an event favorite in Las Vegas. The Installation Innovation Stage presented 48 presentations and live demonstrations for learning advanced techniques to install new products. The Experience Stage, new for 2022 and located within the Coverings Lounge, offered opportunities to learn from industry experts about Coverings’ core focuses of “Wellness and Environment”; “Timeless Luxury” and “Outdoor Living Spaces,” collectively part of nine lively presentations.
The Trends and Solutions Stage, which was also new for 2022, covered product trends and solutions in the industry, with 19 presentations offered by Coverings exhibitors and trade professionals. The Coverings Lounge was standing room only at times, featuring a Wellness and Sustainability Wall that highlighted the health advantages and sustainable, hygienic properties of ceramic tile. The lounge also hosted an Outdoor Living Pavilion designed and installed by students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Architecture program. “It was our first year to exhibit at Coverings, and we were not sure what to expect,” said Gordon Williams, president of Inlay Spacer. “We left the show excited about possible business opportunities that presented themselves from the exposure that Coverings provided.”
“Coverings 2022 was no exception to the fact industry professionals attend Coverings each year to explore the latest trends, source global products, network with industry peers, gain project inspiration, learn new information, and find solutions to grow their businesses,” said Hoff. “Plans are already in the works for Coverings 2023, which will take place April 18-21, 2023, at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Florida.”
